Melanotan 2 is an innovative way to stimulate tanning and prevent the harmful effects of UV radiation. MT2 is a synthetic peptide analogue of the natural hormone malenocortin, which is the main factor that stimulates skin cells to produce melanin, the pigment that colors the skin and protects it from harmful UV rays. Melanotan 2 has a number of effects that are so attractive to people of different ages and genders: stimulation and increase in sexual desire (increased libido functions), and also reduces appetite, due to which you can get rid of excess weight.
There are two types of this peptide: Melanotan 1 and Melanotan 2. The first – Melanotan 1 is a very mild, with systematic effects, which is why it has already been approved for use in Italy. Melanotan 2 surprasses Melanotan 1 in terms of the effect on melanocortin receptors by several times, which makes it more effective for quick tanning, but the tan from Melanotan 2 is more pronounced.
Mechanism of action
Melanotan 2 is a hypothalamic hormone which belongs to the melanotropin family, a group of peptides that react with melanocortin receptors and has a wide range of effects on almost all tissue types. Other melanotropic hormones include ACTH and alpha melanocyte stimulating hormone (a-MSH). Melanotan 2 is an alpha-melanocyte- stimulating hormone analogue structurally modified t reduce enzymatic degradation and increase receptor binding. Initially, the properties of the hormone to cause sunburn and pigmentation were studied, but more recent studies have focused on its antioxidant properties, the effect on the displacement of physiological rhythms, and the possible usage of the drug as a therapy for erectile dysfunction. Melanotan 2 is a broad and powerful melanocortin system stimulant.
Melanocortin receptors are the main mechanism through which Melanotan 2 exerts its action. MCR or melanocortin receptors exist in various functions in the human body, as well as in many other organisms. All MCR’s consisting of various subtypes that perform various functions, make up the melanocortin system. The melanocortin system performs various functions in the body using different mechanisms based on a limited number of functional groups -it has profound systemic effects in central and peripheral interactions with other known neuropeptide systems (leptin, ghelin,insulin,etc.)
These functions include controlling energy balance,thyroid function, and insulin response. In addition, MCR’s play a major role in skin pigmentation and also affect reproductive function both physically and behaviorally. When combined with endogeneous opioids, they are able to modulate pain and nerve sensitivity, respond to inflamation, as well as exert neuroprotective effects (including resistance to oxidative stress), influence aggressiveness, and modulate circadian thythms, including arousal when waiting for food.
Effects of pigmentation

The melanocortin system is a potential therapeutic target for reducing appetite and weight, increasing fatty acid oxidation, and treating diseases associated with obesity such as insulin resistance, diabetes and high blood pressure. Alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone, whose analogue is Melanotan 2 is the main endogenous stimulator of the human melanocortin system. How to use
Do notu se Melanotan 2 in big dossages and with fanatical constancy. In the first week, do not abuse the ultraviolet and do not forget about moisturizing the skin. Quite normal dosages for people with white skin will be 100-200 mcg every day or every throughout.
To achieve the desired skin tone and minimize the likehood of ‘melanotan freckles’ do not exceed dosages and do not stay in the sun of a long time. Let your body store melanin on its own. Usually the drug is used for 2-3 weeks, until the desired skin tone is achived and then a reuduced dose of two times or less is taken to maintain a tan. The roxommendation for the first injection is to avaid side effects in the form of tachycardia and redness of the skin is to do 50-100 mcg.
A case of overdose has been recorded namely the administration of 6 mg once. Some time after the injection, there wes severe pain that spread to the whole body. Docotrs found a significant increase in heart rate and increased blood pressure; urine analysis showed a significant increase in the release of myoglobin, a protein that i san indicaton of muscle damage. A high dose of Melanotan 2 caused the destruction of muscle fibers, which led to an increase in plasma protein, and as result, ddamage to the kidneys.
Further studies shown that Melanotan 2 can be potentially harmful to the muscled (and the body as a whole) at dosages higher than 6 mg per day. In any case, it is not recommended to exceed the daily dasage of 1 mg, and if you feel a violation of the heart or pain throughout the body, the drug should be stopped immediately.
How to prepare a solution
In order to prepare a solution for injection, you take a syringe already containing a diluent and inject it into a vial containing a lyophilized powder. Tilt the vial so that the needle touches the vial wall. Avoiding injecting the diluent directly into the lyophilized powder. The solvent should slowly flow down the wall of the bottle (do not fill everything at once and take your time).
